What are reviewers saying?
First, there's the pageantry and drama of the Tom Jones contest. Then there's the great cast of characters living at the Finger Senior Home, all marvelous additions to the plot as Ellie's assistant sleuths and cheering squad. Add in the sudden appearance of not one, but three possible love interests, and the excitement in Ellie's life seems to have outmatched that in her wildest romance novels. Who Killed 'Tom Jones'? is clever and beautifully orchestrated and a very entertaining read indeed." — Readers' Favorite Book Reviews
Gale Martin's Who Killed 'Tom Jones'? is as fluffy and delicious as one of the deep-fried funnel cakes that are a primary food group in Pankey, Pennsylvania, where heroine Ellie resides. The humor is constant and welcome in these pages. Some jokes are stunningly good... [An] amusing and sassy novel that will appeal to fans of romance and cozy mysteries alike." — Foreword Clarion Reviews
[Martin] perfectly captures each moment and runs with it across the pages at warp speed! And her characters? Talk about brilliant casting! Quirky seniors, a quirky boss and no wonder Ellie is like a whirling dervish! Ellie’s mental dialogue . . .  is priceless, a few hours in her head and I had tears in my eyes from laughing! A little mystery, an unknown murderer, a ton of mayhem all rolled up in a sugary-good coating of humor and word play!" — Tome Tender
Gale Martin's novel is a pure delight - it's a hilarious romantic comedy/murder mystery with a lot of twists and turns in every chapter. It will definitely keep you guessing and cheering!" — Chicklit Club

In Gale Martin's newest novel, Ellie Overton is a 28-year-old rest home receptionist with a little pussycat nose who is gaga for the pop singer Tom Jones. Regrettably single, she is desperate to have a white-hot love relationship, like those she’s read about in romance novels. Following an astrological hunch, she attends a Tom Jones Festival and meets an available, young impersonator. Though he’s knocked out of the contest, he’s still in the running to become Ellie’s blue-eyed soul mate—until he’s accused of killing off the competition. It’s not unusual that the handsome police detective working the case is spending more time pursuing Ellie than collaring suspects. So, she enlists some wily rest home residents to help find the real murderer. Must Ellie forfeit her best chance for lasting love to crack the case?

Where did the idea come from for the book?
Ha! A woman from my high school, a close childhood friend, married an Elvis impersonator. I thought this was very funny because he imitated the over-the-top version of Elvis with the white fringed jumpsuit, beer belly, mutton-chop sideburns--you get the idea. I heard the marriage didn't last though I am not surprised. While I was never a huge Elvis fan, I LOVED Tom Jones as a kid. I was too young to truly understand why women hurled lingerie at him. But I was intoxicated by the theater of it. So, I doubt this friend from whom I'm estranged knows that her marital (and perhaps connubial bliss, however fleeting) inspired this book. With any luck, she doesn't read this blog.
